St. Philip’s College Announces 2025 Teacher Excellence Award Recipient

The Faculty Development Committee of the Faculty Senate at St. Philip’s College has named Ms. Elisabeth Caldwell as the 2025 Teacher Excellence Award recipient. The announcement was made during the All College Meeting on Jan. 11, 2025.
Elisabeth has dedicated her career to advancing respiratory therapy education through innovation, engagement, and leadership. She has degrees in Biology, Respiratory Care, and an MBA in Healthcare Management.
After beginning her teaching career in 2015, Elizabeth joined St. Philip’s College in 2017 and transitioned to a full-time faculty position in 2020. She currently serves as the Clinical Director for the Respiratory Therapy Program. She has implemented initiatives such as the Clinical Excellence Award and the Student Professionalism Portfolio, both aimed at fostering well-rounded professional development for students.
Elisabeth integrates real-life scenarios and interactive learning into her curriculum, helping students build critical thinking and practical skills. Her innovative teaching methods are designed to prepare students for board exams and successful careers in respiratory therapy.
Her commitment to professional growth is evident in her participation in programs such as Master Teacher, Quality Matters, and ACUE training, allowing her to refine her teaching methods continuously.
“Teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but about creating a personalized and meaningful learning experience for each student,” she said. “I strive to adapt my approach to meet the unique needs of every learner, always seeking innovative ways to reinforce and solidify key concepts, ensuring that each individual can thrive and achieve their fullest potential.”
